Usage Guidelines

System Design and Sizing

• Bed Depth: 24–30 inches (60–75 cm)
• Freeboard: 50% of bed depth for proper backwashing
• Service Flow Rate: 3–6 gpm/ft² (7–15 L/min/m²)
• Backwash Flow Rate: 10–12 gpm/ft² (25–30 L/min/m²)

Backwashing

• Regular backwashing is required to prevent media compaction and to maintain efficiency.

Media Replacement

• Calcite gradually dissolves as it neutralizes water. Replenish media as needed to maintain effectiveness.

Packaging and Storage

• Packaging:
